Learn about the building’s colorful stories and how she was resurrected into the beauty she is today.

9:45 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Coral Gables Neighborhood Walk
Curious about the enchanting neighborhood surrounding the beautiful Biltmore Hotel? This approx. 1.75 mile guided walk will take you to the historic home of City founder George Merrick, past the Venetian Pool, and return to the Biltmore Hotel.

TUESDAY, APRIL 5 – CORE MEETINGS

3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Visit to Montgomery Botanical Center
Montgomery Botanical Center is the living legacy of Robert and Nell Montgomery, widely known as the founders of Fairchild Tropical Garden. The 120-acre Coral Gables estate houses some of the best living collections of palms, cycads, and tropical conifers from around the world, dedicated to research and conservation, and presented in a garden of exemplary design. (Optional activity)

Speed talks from ICTB and NTBG Science Staff with lunch keynote address from 2022 David Fairchild Medal Award for Plant Exploration recipient, Dr. Sandra Knapp. (Optional activity)

6:30 p.m. David Fairchild Medal Award for Plant Exploration Dinner at The Kampong
Dr. Sandra Knapp, the 2022 recipient of the Fairchild Medal Award for Plant Exploration, is an American tropical botanist and Merit Researcher at the Natural History Museum in London. She has a PhD degree from Cornell from 1986 and is renowned for her decades of taxonomic work on the nightshade family including important food crops and wild relatives of tomato, potato, and eggplant; her leadership of Flora Mesoamericana, and her broad engagement in plant systematics, collections, fieldwork, and crop science, as well as her passionate science communication. She is also a Field Associate at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago.
