Plein Air Watercolors at the Kampong

Join local artist and 2019 first-place winner of Women in the Visual Arts, Wendy X. Ordónez, MFA, for a relaxing watercolor workshop at the Kampong Gardens on the first day of Fall. We will go over tips on how to paint plein air, how to pick and mix your colors, and how to use watercolors to capture the beauty of the garden. We will have a demonstration by Wendy and then proceed to painting in the garden with personalized feedback at your station. For ages 16 and up. Suitable for all skill levels.

Materials:

Please note you will need to bring your own materials! Here’s what you will need.

Required:

• Basic watercolor set
• Three different size brushes (small, medium, large)
• Container for water
• Paper towels
• Watercolor paper pad (with sturdy backing. Minimum dimensions of 5”x7”, maximum 11”x15”)
• Plastic palette/paper plates
• Sunscreen
• Light clothing (you may be in the sun depending on where you set up!)

Optional:

• Masking tape
• Masking solution
• Pencil
• Black ink pen (Paper Mate Flair works really well)
• Portable stool
• Portable easel
