NTBG and KCC's collaborative Earth Matters public lecture series continues on Tuesday, October 15 from 5:30 p.m. at Kaua‘i Community College as Dr. Nina Rønsted, recently appointed Director of Science and Conservation at the National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG), presents a talk drawing on her own experience doing fieldwork in the foothills of the Andes mountains in a quest to better understand the anti-malarial quinine bark. In her talk, Dr. Rønsted will discuss how combining traditional knowledge and evolutionary history can lead to the discovery of new plant-based medicine.

Earth Matters lectures are held in the KCC Campus Center Cafeteria behind the Performing Arts Center. For questions about access of special accommodations, call (808) 332-7324 Ex. 225 at least 10 days in advance.
