The java prune is a tree reaching about 9 meters tall with smooth brown bark. The leaves are oblong and pointed, about 13-21 x 5-8 cm. The small, white flowers are trumpet shaped, 1-3 cm long, with overlapping petals. They are produced in inflorescences called cymes. They closely resemble florers of Plumeria, which belongs to the same family. The fruits are oblong and smooth, 2.5 cm long.
