Plant Description:
Specimen has about 25 living fronds which are glaucous on both the abaxial and adaxial sides. Leaves are about 6 feet in length from petiole base to leaf tip and have an undulating pattern with stiff folds that create a zig-zag pattern in cross section. Fronds are dull blue-green in color, and the petiole and peaks of the leaf folds on the abaxial side are densely tomentose. The lower half of the plant consists of dead drooping foliage and the top half consists of turgid upright fronds. The palm is of a single stem and the height from the top of the canopy to the base is about 12 feet. There were about 1-2 branches in the inflorescence and the inflorescence is about the same length as the petiole. The fruits appear to be immature but show a light olive-green color. The branches of the inflorescence are yellow. NTBG acc. #20140098002
