Collections Management Database System

A comprehensive botanical garden management software

About the Collections Management Database System (CMDS)

Over the past 25 years NTBG has been developing a software system catered to its specific needs. The system currently tracks over 45,000 living collections, 80,000 herbarium specimens, and hundreds of thousands of plants in the various NTBG Nurseries.

The data provided on our public facing website (ntbg.org) is updated directly from our internal systems which greatly simplifies the ability of our scientists, researchers and staff to conduct vital research.

Meet The Plants - a user friendly plant search engine targeted at elementary through college students to assist with botanical research. This system consists of 600 plant records and associated 2600 resources (images, audio, and video files).

Herbarium Search Engine - a public search engine for the NTBG Herbarium. Currently searching over 80,000 unique specimen records and over 40,000 images of herbarium sheets in tiled, zoomable format, as well as high resolution download.
