Plant Description:
Perennial herb 1-1.5 m tall, stems yellowish, square. Leaves dark green above with white costa and secondary veins. Inflo rescence branches yellow, bracts brick red, corolla base, style & stamens yellow. Flowers not fragrant (4 PM). Naturalized, spreading vegetatively and forming dominant ground cover; no fruit set noted.
Habitat:
Secondary vegetat ion of Albizia, Psidium, Caesalpinia decapetala, Hibiscus tiliaceous, with understory of Heliconia, Sanchezia & Nicolaia.
