Plant Description:
Stems erect, to eight ft; leaves dark, semi-glossy green with pale yellowish-green midvein, below pale green with faint sheen and greenish-yellow midvein; inflorescence erect, flattened with the flowers at a 90° angle to the bracts; peduncle dark maroon overlain with tan lepidia; cincinnal bracts dull orange-red without, within dark red semiglossy, becoming white to yellowish-white near base, (the lowermost bract sometimes with terminal leaflike appendage); floral bracts greenish-white with darker green tinge near apex; tepals waxy yellow at base becoming green at apex; apex of ovary blackish-green, the lower ?'s dull yellow; pedicel dull orange-yellow.
