Locality:
National Park of American Samoa, To`aga site, between coastal road and shoreline, near west end of park; elev. 3-4 m.
Plant Description:
Tree 7 m tall with dense, rounded canopy. Fruits green, exud ing yellow latex when cut, ripening brown, 8-seeded. Flower buds green. Common, indigenous. Samoan name: milo.
Habitat:
Coastal strand forest.
Associated Species:
Hernandia nymphaeifolia, Thespesia populnea, Pandanus tectorius, Tournefortia argentea, Morinda, mixed with plantings of Cocos, Artocarpus & Musa, understory of Vigna, Phymatosorus, Tacca, Epipremnum, over coral sand & basalt boulders.
