Join us for ʻĀina Day at NTBG:
Unfortunately, free tours of McBryde Garden have been fully reserved, but you are still invited to our activities and plant giveaway at the South Shore Visitor Center. Ōhiʻa are an invaluable part of our ecosystems and culture in Hawaiʻi. But these sacred trees are under threat from Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death (ROD). We can all do our part to protect them. In doing so, we can help support life across the ʻāina. Hosted in partnership with the Kauaʻi Invasive Species Committee in celebration of ʻŌhiʻa Lehua Day.
Participating partners include University of Hawaiʻi Master Gardeners, Kauaʻi Native Plant Society, Kōkeʻe Resource Conservation Program, and Save our Shearwaters.
On the North Shore? Limahuli Garden and Preserve will be offering free self-guided tours and ʻōhiʻa trees for kamaʻāina with Hawaiʻi ID while supplies last from 9 am – 12 pm on ʻĀina Day. Parking is very limited. We highly recommend taking the Go Hāʻena shuttle.
*ʻŌhiʻa trees and other native plants are limited to Kauaʻi residents (one per family) while supplies last. McBryde Garden tours are subject to availability. Reservations required.
