Plant Description:
Tree about 10 m and very bushy wide. Large leaf, above dark green, below light green, and heart-shaped leaf. Flowers yellow and insect damage on the leaf. N.V. Keleu [Pohnpeian]
Ethnobotanical Notes:
flower Bloody diarrhea. Flowers use for rectal bleeding, diarrhea with blood.
fruit Medicine. Fruit used for tongue medicine.
leaves Wrap. Leave use for wrapping mashed banana. Gather as many leaves that are needed for wrapping mashed bananas and put one cup of mashed bananas in one leaf. The leaves depend on the mashed banana.
young shoots Fever. For feverish babies. Gather plenty young shoots, pound put into a piece of cloth. Squeeze in a cup of water and let the baby drink. One cup a day until better.
Habitat:
Agroforest, on homestead open suny patch, near tapioca, banana and breadfruit. Thick grassy understory.
