Locality:
Aneau river valley NE of ridge leading to Poutetainui peak.
Plant Description:
Canopy tree 15 m x 40 cm dbh, bark brown with warty bumps. Leaves uniformly green. Fallen fruits with pink-red fleshy cup enclosing single black, ovoid ribbed beaked seed. Locally dominant from c. 300 m up valley to at least 450 m.
Habitat:
Wet forest along stream.
Associated Species:
Hernandia nukuhivensis dominant, also Hibiscus tiliaceus, Pandanus, Glochidion, Crossostylis, with understory of Freycinetia, Boehmeria, Macropiper, Cordyline, Angiopteris and numerous ferns.
