Lumahai Valley, south facing side of ridge running below southern end of Namolokama.
Plant Description:
3 mature trees flowering in original western colony, tree #2 150 cm tall w/ flowers, #3 125 cm tall w/ flowers, #4 85 cm tall w/ flowers, average 4-5 inflorescence w/ ca. 15-17 flowers per tree, pollen taken from #3 and transferred to flower on #4. Total of 3 mature flowering and 8 immature @ western colony.
Habitat:
Metrosideros lowland wet forest bordered by steep slopes of Dicranopteris and Diplopterygium matting ferns, 90% closed canopy
Associated Species:
w/ Antidesma platyphyllum var. hillebrandii, Syzygium sandwicensis, Cheirodendron forbesii, Ilex anomala, Wikstroemia oahuensis, Polyscias oahuensis, Polyscias waialealae, Dubautia knudsenii, Psychotria mariniana, Kadua affinis, Melicope wawraeana, Melicope feddei, Diplazium sandwichianum, Sadleria spp, Cibotium spp.
