Plant Description:
Shrubby tree branching at 1 m, canopy dense, trunk 15 cm diam, bark smooth, gray. Lvs glossy dark green above, paler below. Female plant, calyx + hypanthium green, corolla white, fragrant (9 am). Fruit green, subglobose, ribbed, when ripe splitting irregularly from apex to reveal orange-brown seed mass, seeds brown, pulp with ripe tamarind odor. Cultivated, origin Tonga.
