Plant Description:
Collected from NTBG890166.001, Grid# Y7. Mature tree at time of collection: height 13.716, diameter at breast height 62.3 centimeters. Fruits oblong, asymmetrical, lumpy. Dark green, pebbly with hard raised or pyramidal sections flattened on top. Very yellow flesh with large seeds. Leaves deeply dissected with 3-4 pairs of widely separated, narrow lobes with serrated margins. Thick, glossy smooth blade with green veins. No to few hairs on upper veins. Many appressed reddish hairs on lower veins. Name means hand or branched like coral, refers to the serrated, deeply dissected leaves. Also called Mwe serang, or Weang. Seeded breadfruit are known as Meias with two types: deeply incised leaves (Mei koeng) or entire (Mei chocho). Fruit and male flowers present (July). Refer to Collectors ID ND45.
