Lumahai Valley, south facing side of ridge running below southern end of Namolokama.
Plant Description:
Leaves collected from Plant #1 for voucher. Total group is composed of two mature (#1 @ 2.5 m tall; #2 @ 1.5 m tall), one juvenile (#3 @ 35 cm tall) all vegetative w/ ca. 15 tiny seedlings spreading below plant #2; 6 tiny seedlings collected for conservation, mapped.
Habitat:
90% closed canopy Metrosideros lowland wet forest bordered by steep slopes of Dicranopteris and Diplopterygium matting ferns
Associated Species:
w/ Antidesma platyphyllum var. hillebrandii, Syzygium sandwicensis, Cheirodendron forbesii, Ilex anomala, Dubautia knudsenii, Psychotria mariniana, Kadua affinis, Melicope wawraeana, Melicope feddei, Diplazium sandwichianum, Sadleria spp, Cibotium spp.
