Locality:
Headwaters of N fork of Wailua River, area called "The Blue Hole" or "The Crater", just E of Mt. Waialeale & Kawaikini; deep valley surrounded by steep cliffs ca 1000 m high laced with waterfalls; Elev. 680-700 m.
Plant Description:
Shrub 1.5 m, stems and petioles reddish, pistillate flowers reddish. Common locally.
Habitat:
low primary vegetation of small, stunted trees 1-2 m tall, numerous pteridophytes, and Gunnera over saturated, rocky ground.
