Plant Description:
Tree ca. 25m tall. Fruit dehiscing into 3 sections, red at maturity just before dehiscence; seeds with very large aril (as large as seed); insects often penetrate fruit before dehiscence and appear to eat aril. Wild collected by Lynwood Hume. Silica sample deposited in the BBG Lab tissue collection and at the NTBG herbarium. TOXIC "Akee" NTBG # 800174 001
