Plant Description:
Succulent shrubby plant to 50 cm (others in population succulent herbs with leaves clustered at base). Largely decumbent, rooted precariously in moss and liverworts over crumbly soil. Roots yellow-brown to pale green. Plant glabrous. Woody stem at base as well as older stem among leaves with purplish cast. Leaves above and below and stems glossy. Stem and peduncle with two narrow slightly raised wings. Largest leaves becoming very pale in places, especially below where fading almost to white. Stipule 4 x 4 mm, with mucro 0.5 mm long to 6 x 4 mm with mucro 3 mm long. Upper infruct. bracts 12 x 10 mm; lower bracts at base of infruct. 20 x 25 mm. Green fruit capsules 15 mm deep x 15 mm wide; calyx lobes 4 x 9 mm. Fruit pale green with dark purple blush, glossy exterior, dull across cup. Upper peduncle and pedicel very pale green. Capsule drying brown to nearly white. Seeds dark brown. About 30 plants in population.
Habitat:
Dripping rock face 5-10 m above sea.
