Plant Description:
Shrub 3 m tall with arching branches. Leaves discolorous. Inflorescence axes and corollas brick red, corolla fading to salmon. Fruit green, ripening black (usu. eaten by birds). Occasional.
Habitat:
Tropical evergreen mesic forest on karstic limestone. Shores of brackish lake.
Associated Species:
With Pisonia grandis, Aglaia, Ficus, Psychotria, Ixora, Meryta, Semecarpus, Morinda, Alpinia, numerous vines and epiphytes, (chiggers also present).
