Locality:
Toaga site on island's south coast, National Park of American Samoa between coastal road and shoreline; elevation 2-3 m, location toward east end of park.
Plant Description:
Tree 4 m tall with dense, rounded crown. Corollas (fallen at 11 am) white, fragrant. Fruit globose, green ripening white, spongy. Common, indigenous. Samoan name: pua pua.
Habitat:
Littoral forest.
Associated Species:
With Terminalia samoensis, Thespesia populnea, Hernandia nymphaeifolia, Cocos, Barringtonia asiatica, Pandanus tectorius, Tournefortia argentea, and herbaceous understory.
