Wailau valley, Kukuinui ridge, near ridge crest 1600-1900 ft. elev. both sides of ridge.
Plant Description:
Large trees 5-10 meters ht. with flowers, about 6-8 trees seen, no fruit seen, leaves chartaceous, broadly elliptic to elliptic-obovate, apex short-acuminate, stipules connate viscid, calyx sharply angled, flowers white, fragrant.
Habitat:
In Metrosideros- Dicranopteris linearis wet forest.
Associated Species:
w/ Cheirodendron, Cibotium, Freycinetia, Ilex, Clermontia kakeana, Antidesma, Wikstroemia, Tetraplasandra hawaiiensis, Alyxia, Hedyotis terminalis, Diospyros, Psychotria, Melicope clusiifolia, Syzygium sandwicense.
