Plant Description:
shrub, low prostrate, stems brown-gray, spreading ca. 2 m x 1.5 m, leaves green-silver, corolla dark red or red-pink, standard with yellow center, underside yellow-white, in flower and early stage of pod formation, single mature plant with 2 seedlings nearby
Habitat:
shrubland mixed with patches of grassland & herbland
Associated Species:
Sida fallax, Jacquemontia ovalifolia, Ipomoea pes-caprae subsp brasiliensis, Sporobolus virginicus, Sesuvium portulacastrum, Scaevola taccada, Vigna marina, Panicum torridum, Panicum fauriei v. latius
Comments:
UTM: 0438089-2421252; significant regeneration of rare Sesbania; no evidence of being planted and occurring around relic native coastal species as described in locality information; will be monitored closely for seed production, recommend leaving majority of seeds around site for continued regeneration, and collecting some seed for conservation at NTBG;
