Locality:
NNW sector of island, trail from Leaumasili Point toward Piumafua Mountain along Alei Ridge to abandoned Sili Uta village and beyond.
Plant Description:
Understory treelet 2-3 m tall, all parts scented strongly of anise/menthol. Flowers white, fruits green, dehiscent. Localized population around old village site, naturalized Polynesian introduction. NTBG acc. # 010362.
Habitat:
Montane wet forest.
Associated Species:
With Diospyros samoensis, Syzygium dealatum, S. inophylloides, Ficus spp., and cultivated remnants includi ng Cocos, Pandanus, Inocarpus, Mangifera, Artocarpus.
