Locality:
Up eastern side gulch of main Hanakapiai stream, before Hanakapiai falls. Towards the back of gulch, on the left side. HIB WAI HAN IAI B 0001.
Plant Description:
Tree with 8 main shoots growing up from interconnected system just below the surface. Largest shoot about 30 feet tall. Substantial herbivory of leaves.

Habitat:
Open canopy growing with mixed native and non-native plant species along side of stream.
Associated Species:
W/ Psidium guajava, Clidemia hirta, Aleurites moluccanus, Freycinetia arborea, Hedychium gardnerianum, Metrosideros polymorpha, Pisonia sandwicensis, Cordyline fruticosa, Dicranopteris linearis, Rubus argutus, Piper methysticum, Antidesma platyphyllum, Ipomoea batatas, Selaginella sp., Cyrtandra sp.

This is a HSPC focal species. Plant was flagged and tagged with number 'HIB WAI HAN IAI B 0001'. Two voucher specimens, DNA material and cuttings were collected. NTBG accession #20160201.
