Locality:
Kahili Mtn. Park, Kahili Ridge Trail above water tank, near back ridge before and below non-native grassy flat. Slopes below the P.bisattenuataXoahuensis hybird on trail before lateral ridge.
Plant Description:
Tree about 12 ft tall. Red flowers, light green calyx. Leaves w/ thick blotchy mines of Philodoria moth. Moths reared and sent to A. Kawahara. All plants in area with moderate mining activity.
Habitat:
Lowland Windward Wet Forest w/ Metrosideros-Dicranopteris.
Associated Species:
W/ Understory of Clidemia, Blechnum appendiculatum, Rubus rosifolius, Nephrolepis, Cyanea larrisonii, Strebulus, Boehmeria, Psychotria, Bobea, Pittosporum, Cyanea fissa, Bidens, Xylosma hawaiiense, Polyscias bisattenuata, P. oahuensis, Freycinetia arborea, Machaerina angustifolia, Hibiscus kokio, Spathoglottis plicata.
