Plant Description:
Tree, 4 m tall, well branched, stems black to brown-black, small leaf form, leaves medium green, reticulate, with flower and fruit, corolla cream or with pink tinge, 3 to 4-lobed, calyx light brown with whitish or golden hairs, fruit yellow, occasional.
Habitat:
Metrosideros open mesic forest with adjacent transitional wet forest
Associated Species:
w/ Kadua affinis, Cheirodendron fauriei, Dicranopteris, Myrsine linearifolia, Scaevola procera, Xylosma hawaiiense, Cyrtandra paludosa, Lysimachia sp, Santalum pyrularium, Dubautia laevigata, Psychotria mariniana, Coprosma waimeae, Asplenium insiticeum, A. polyodon, mosses and hepatics.
