Lawai Valley, Allerton Estate, west side of Lawai Stream in "jungle" area just NW of Lotus pond.
Plant Description:
Clumping palm to ca. 20 ft.; 8 fronds/stem, fronds +/- erect arching, glossy medium green above, dull paler green olive green below, fronds 80 inches from tip to sheath, 64 inches from tip to lowest pinnae; clasping leaf sheath ca 18 inches, pale green overlain with white wax; infructescence arching (from stem below fronds) at ca. 45 deg angle with drooping branches, eventually whole infructescence pendant w/ mature fruit; infructescence branches pale yellow-green to pale green; tepals & stamens cream; fruit deep cherry red;

Secondary vegetation/Cultivated garden interface
Associated Species:
Dominated by Ptychosperma with Spathodea and Schefflera.
