Haiku region, Merwin palm collection on Kulike Road, past turnoff from Haumana Road, which is at mile 16 marker of Hana Highway (Hwy 36).
Plant Description:
Vine in understory covering large areas, also climbing in trees and shrubs to several meters; stems woody; glands on lower leaf surface orange. Sterile, spreading vegetatively but being eradicated.
Habitat:
Cultivated palm forest and secondary forest, valley bottom with dry stream.
Associated Species:
W/ Mangifera indica, Pandanus tectorius, naturalized palms including Archontophoenix, Caryota, Dypsis, Phoenix and Ptychosperma spp., and herbaceous weedy understory.
