Locality:
East Maui. East side of Hanawi Stream, Honouliulinui.
Plant Description:
Herbs to 2m; flowers and or bracts reddish orange; leaves with white veins on adaxial surface. Apparently naturalized. Also noted in several roadside locations in Hana District.
Habitat:
Wet, muddy remnant Hala forest.
Associated Species:
invaded by dense monotypic stands of Ardisia elliptica.
