Locality:
Mahaulepu area of SE Kauai. Along cliffs just south of CMJ Country Stables. Started on the west end of population and headed east.
Plant Description:
Small, sprawling shrub about 1 foot tall. One senesced flower. No fruit. Feeble. The first Capparis plant in a series of tagged individuals. Started on the west end of population and headed east. CAP SAN MAH A 0001.
Habitat:
About 20 meters from edge of lithified sandstone cliffs. Windswept and full sun, mixed native and non-native vegetation.
Associated Species:
W/ Scaevola taccada, Leucaena leucocephala, Prosopis pallida, Boerhavia repens, Jacquemontia sandwicensis, Lantana camara, Branta sandvicensis.
Comments:
This is a HSPC focal species. Plant was flagged and tagged with CAP SAN MAH A 0001. One voucher specimen and DNA material collected. First tagged plant down the coast, starting from the west end.
