Shrub about 3 ft in ht. Heart shaped leaf. Leaf thick and leathery. Dark green upper and lower with yellow flecks throughout. Semi spicy smell. Crush leaf to release bad smell and dark green juice. N.V. Sakau [Pohnpeian].
Ethnobotanical Notes:
Use: Leaves used to treat cuts. Gather 1 to 2 leaves and rub in hand until soft. Place it on cut. Apply twice a day until healed. Participant: Ms. Merty Lengsi. Female.
Habitat:
Collected along roadside in agroforest.
Associated Species:
Dominant plants include banana, coconut, and mango.
