Locality:
NNW sector of island, trail from Leaumasili Point toward Piumafua Mountain along Alei Ridge past abandoned Sili Uta village site.
Plant Description:
Tree 3 m tall, trunk 10 cm dbh, leaves glossy green above. Flowers buds pale green. Common locally, apparently naturalized. Samoan name: asi.
Habitat:
Evergreen wet forest on ridge.
Associated Species:
With Syzygium spp., Sterculia fanaiho, Myristica fatua, Calophyllum neoebudicum, Alphitonia, Rhus, dense understory of shrubs and liana stems.
