West Maui, Wailuku, Iao Valley State Park, up into Hau patch after bathroom and before first walking bridge.
Plant Description:
Large plant covering at least an acre. Leaves dark green and glossy above w/ impressed venation. Leaf underside light green w/ raised midrib and veins, covered in short stiff hairs. Flowers dark red on ground. Hips w/ golden hairs. Active Philidoria mines in leaves, some with 3-5 active caterpillars.
