Plant Description:
Medium sized tree, 10 m in height and 8 cm D.B.H. Very straight, slender trunk. Black bark. N.V. "Auauli [Samoan]."
Habitat:
Mixed primary and secondary forest.
Associated Species:
Canopy dominated by Dysoxylum samoense, Hernandia nyphaeifolia, Guettarda speciosa. Understory composed of Diospyros samoensis, Ficus scabra, Morinda citrifolia, juvenile forest tree species, Asplenium nidus, Phymatosorus grossus, and Epipremnum pinnatum.
