Locality:
Toaga site on island's south coast, National Park of American Samoa between coastal road and shoreline; elevation 5-6 m. [0.26 mi. from W end park].
Plant Description:
Slender tree 6 m tall with dark, blackish bark. Leaves dark green. Fruit spheroidal, 2 cm diam. Scarce, endemic. N.V. "Au`ouli [Samoan]."
Habitat:
Littoral forest over basalt boulders and coral sand.
Associated Species:
Terminalia catappa, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Hernandia nymphaefolia, Ficus, Macaranga, Erythrina variegata, vines, and native and naturalized herbs, with scattered cultivated plots.
