Locality:
Toaga site on island's South coast, National Park of American Samoa between coastal road and shoreline; elevation 2-3 m, location about midway in park.
Plant Description:
Tree 6-7 m tall, trunk 40 cm dbh, canopy dense, umbrella-shaped, lvs. glossy above. Ripe fruits pink-red. Flowers pinkis h-white, green in bud. Dominant tree in some areas. Samoan name: talie.
Habitat:
Littoral forest.
Associated Species:
Terminalia samoensis, Thespesia populnea, Hernandia nymphaeifolia, Cocos, Barringtonia asiatica, Pandanus tectorius, Tournefortia argentea, and herbaceous understory.
