Plant Description:
Perennial with reclining woody stem 1 m long, 5 erect later- al branches to c. 1 m high; lvs v-shaped, margin slightly revolute; cymes axillary; corolla violet-purple, margins of lobes white. Population of 3 adults, 3 juvs. on stream bank.
Habitat:
Lowland wet forest.
Associated Species:
with Ilex anomala, Psychotria spp., Hedyotis spp., Melicope spp., Antidesma, and Metrosideros polymorpha, canopy severely damaged by Hurricane Iniki (1992), now heavily invaded by Clidemia hirta.
