Plant Description:
2.5 m tall, unbranched, palm-like tree; leaves glossy, dk- green above, white-green below; peduncle pendant, lt-green; pedicles lt-green; immature hypanthium lt-green; corolla white, tinged purple; older peduncles w/ renovations.
Habitat:
Metrosideros-Dicranopteris Lowland Wet Forest.
Associated Species:
Cheirodendron, Hedyotis terminalis Gardenia, Ilex anamola, & Pittosporum glabrum. Wind swept shrublands on upper ridges.
