Plant Description:
Herb, 1 m tall on stream bank, vegetative, with tuberous rhizomes, 9 plants observed along stream banks and on shelves just above stream.
Habitat:
Metrosideros polymorpha montane wet forest with riparian vegetation.
Associated Species:
Dominated by Rubus hawaiensis, Coprosma ochracea, along with C. montana and C. foliosa, Broussaisia arguta, and a well dispersed population of Gunnera petaloïdea, 70% open canopy with occasional emergent 15 m tall Metrosideros polymorpha along with 8–10 m tall Cheirodendron trigynum.
