Perennial herb from rhizome, stems 2-3 m, leaves distichous. Flowers white, fruits orange-red.

Mangrove vegetation transitional to lowland coastal wet forest and agroforest, 0-25 m.

Barringtonia, Brugiera, Rhizophora, Casuarina, Polyscias, Schefflera, & Vitex.
