Plant Description:
Tree 20 m tall, stem 35 cm in diameter, fruits orange, flowers orange. N.V. nihwaita [Pohnpeian]
Ethnobotanical Notes:
PETIOLES: Eyewash. Medicine for a painful eye caused by sunlight or just a dirt in the eye. Scrape the inner bark of the leaf stalk (the ones that just growing for about 1m tall) into a piece of cloth. Squeeze in the eye to relieve the pain.
Roots. Anticonvulsant. In treating seizure, the roots were pounded and squeezed in one liter of water and drunken.
Fruits. Beverage. The fruit is used for drinking (coconut drink).
