Headwaters of Wainiha River, NE fork, just SW of Mahinakehau Ridge; elevation 680-825 m. Slopes moderate to steep. Damage from Hurricane Iniki light to moderate.
Plant Description:
Herb 1 m tall, flowering on lateral branches, flowers yellow, ray florets 4-5. Common.
Habitat:
Lowland wet forest with Metrosideros polymorpha dominant.
Associated Species:
also Antidesma, Syzygium, Broussaisia, Boehmeria, & Perrottetia, with understory of pteridophytes, Cyrtandra, & Cyanea.
