Kuia Natural Area Reserve (NAR), in Mahanaloa Valley, N-facing slope of valley N. of Milolii Ridge, above confluence with Paaiki Valley. Regional elevation 750-868m.
Plant Description:
Perennial herb, leaves basal, bright green, petiole purple at base. Old inflorescence 1-1.2 m tall, with mature seeds. Small population of 15-20 plants in understory, with grasses and sedges. Seed voucher.
Associated Species:
Acacia koa and Metrosideros polymorpha dominant, also Alphitonia, Nestegis, Cryptocary, Dodonea, Styphelia, invaded by Psidium and Lantana.
