Puu Ka Pele Forest Reserve on wester n side of Waimea Canyon, just E. of Highway 550; alt. 105 0-900 m.
Plant Description:
Tree 3 m. tall, 15 cm DBH; leaves with reddsih-purple veins, costa, and petioles. Inflorescence and flowers dark purple. Locally scarce.
Habitat:
Steep slopes and open grassy areas, with remnants of dry mixed mesophyt ic forest of Acacia koa, Metrosideros, and Myrsine.
