Plant Description:
Herb to 1m; flower bracts red; flowers white. N.V. "Oangen pele [Pohnpeian]."
Ethnobotanical Notes:
Stems: Mouthwash. Chew inside of stem after Kava drinking to make bad taste go away.
Leaves: Antipyretic. If child has fever, collect 4 leaf apices, mash, put in cloth, squeeze liquid in mouth of chil d 4 or 8 days, 1x in am., 1x in afternoon.
Stems: Antipyretic. Peel skin, pound it and squeeze juice . Give juice to children with fever until fever is gone.
