Plant Description:
Herb from creeping, underground rhizome; stems to 9 ft., eventually arching; leaves dark glossy green above with pale green midvein, glossy pale green below; fruit ripening orange to scarlet & finally deep glossy red. Seed collected.
Habitat:
Primary forest on limestone karst.
Associated Species:
Ficus, Morinda Semecarpus, Psychotria, Pisonia, Aglaia, Callicarpa, Alpinia Malaisia, Tectaria, Piper, and various orchids.
