Plant Description:
Terrestrial herb, rhizomatous, pseudostems clumped, 5-6 m tall, leaves distichous. Flowers with deep pink calyx, corolla lobes pink, white basally. Fruits crimson, seeds brown. Abundant in forest understory.
Habitat:
Evergreen wet forest.
Associated Species:
Rhus, Garcinia, Pinanga insignis, Manilkara, Fagraea, Campnosperma, Semecarpus, Freycinetia, Gmelina, and Astronidium.
