Heading W. from Alamoar to end of unpaved road, then up trail along ridge leading to Mt. Kupwuriso. Approximate elevation ca. 150 to 230 m (ridge crest).
Plant Description:
Massive rhizomatous herb, pseudostems 5-6 m tall, leaves distichous. Inflorescences terminal, ripe fruits red, seeds eaten by native parrots. Localized, forest understory on slope. Seed & rhizome collection.
Habitat:
Lowland wet forest.
Associated Species:
Campnosperma, Calophyllum, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Pittosporum, Cananga, Aidia, Cynometra, Cyclophyllum, Psychotria, & Elaeocarpus.
