Kalihiwai River valley, at ca. 1/2 mile SW of Highway 56 near first waterfall.
Plant Description:
Rhizomatous herb, stems 2-3 m. tall, leaves distichous, faintly aromatic. Inflorescence erect, terminal, bracts dark red, corollas not seen, numerous plantlets produced in bract axils. Spontaneous locally. "Red ginger".
Habitat:
Old secondary vegetation along flood plain.
Associated Species:
With Hibiscus tiliaeus, Psidium & Syzygium.
